Non-Government
Organisation
Formally incorporated organisations, usually but not always, registered at the national level. Includes public benefit organisations, non-profit organisations, faith-based organisations, public foundations, etc.
Thematic
Community
Group
Organisations or committees based at the village or community level whose purpose is to respond to a particular thematic community development need. May serve more than one village. May or may not be registered locally. Includes School Management Committees, Women’s Groups, Youth Groups, Parent and Teacher Associations, Water Users Associations, Pasture Committees, etc.
Community Governance Group
Organisations or committees based at the village or community level whose members are usually elected and whose purpose is to represent community aspirations to local government. May serve more than one village. May or may not be registered locally. Includes Village Organisations, Village Development Organisations, Neighbourhood Associations, etc.
Professional
Association
Organisations that exist to provide support to individuals of a particular profession. Includes associations and unions of nurses, midwives, teachers, journalists, musicians, etc.
Network
Organisations that act as the secretariat, coordinator or representative for a group of affiliated organisations
(not for individuals as these would fall under professional associations). Includes federated organisations, umbrella organisations, network secretariats, chambers of commerce, etc.
